Review on πŸ–¨οΈ KELANT Curing Printer: Achieve Seamless Offline Printing by Tony Reid

Revainrating 4 out of 5

First SLA printer, needed some adjustment and getting used to

I've been using the Prusa MK3 for a few years and it just always works and I use it A LOT. We wanted more detail and smoothness and needed a high build volume so we went with this Kelant SLA. The build quality is good, very solid all metal. The acrylic body isn't UV resistant and the door hinges felt wobbly to me, so I just ran it in a topless vented basement bathroom with the lights off. import file) just didn't work, it seemed like a lot of details stuck to the FEP or the base but nothing in between. The included presliced DID test object was printed so used the free Anycubic Photon Validator software to view the settings in the presliced file, made those settings the defaults and has been printing OK ever since (see image to image to figure out what it is for"Birdcage" is " precut file). Destroyed FEP stuck on day one, couldn't print (stretchy), so get a pack of these. I've used Monoprice White Resin, Elegoo Clear, Black, and Gray Resins and have printed well so far, and I'm still getting used to SLA (and gloves, IPA, messy resin, cleaning, curing, etc.). SLA prints are also REALLY fragile, I print mechanical parts so FDM Prusa stays busy with "print parts" while SLA pens and such are much nicer. I haven't used tech support but others say they are responsive. I'm rating it a 4 because it really works, the build quality is good, and it also has a large build volume of 7.6 x 4.8 x 7.8 inches. The software used is Chitubox, which appears to be standard and fairly basic.

Pros
  • High precision and resolution
Cons
  • Big and bulky
