This is my second electronic lock for my van. I thought it was the same as my last one, but the back plate is plastic on this one and metal on my old one. The plastic doesn't last that long and bent when first installed, so I removed it and installed the old metal backplate (fortunately it turned out to be replaceable). But I don't recommend this lock, buy it with a metal back. The first one was great until I locked myself out because the batteries died and my key was in (I did a multi week trip where I locked my keys in, all my fault). I damaged my lock when opening it (not an easy task).
