Horrible Mess on Door Armor

I have used a similar product before and it worked great. This trademark used for the same make and model is not liable for sure. The ends will separate from the door leaving a sticky residue but not strong enough to hold the ends. Apparently the glue is not very good. 6/4/16: I'm checking my rating. I initially gave this product 2 stars as it doesn't stick well to the edges of car doors. However, today I spent an hour removing the strips and cleaning the black goo from the edges of the doors and other places where the sticky adhesive remained. . In cooler weather, the adhesion of these tapes is poor. The situation gets worse in warm weather, and when you try to re-stick the strips, the glue gets on everything, including your hands and clothes. Note that acetone does a good job of removing slime, although I'm concerned it might affect the car's finish. Everything looks good so far. I had a similar product on my last machine and it worked very well. Unfortunately I don't remember the brand anymore. I hope others can chime in if they know of a more reliable brand.

Pros
  • Door Guard prevents the paint from chipping when your door hits another car or wall. Or you can hide existing paint chips
Cons
  • Some imperfections
