Review on 🎡 Yamaha MusicCast Vinyl 500 WiFi Turntable - Piano Black by Chris Nastanovich

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great player but expensive.

It's a great turntable but it can be misunderstood. You should familiarize yourself with Music Cast before purchasing. If you're unfamiliar with this technology, you can wirelessly sync and stream your music to multiple MUSICCAST speakers around the house. (Similar to Sonos.) Yamaha recently updated it to also provide 5.1 surround sound. Any speaker, receiver or, in this case, player can stream music services. Examples include Pandora, Spotify, etc. This player offers a lot of flexibility for existing stereo systems. If you have an old receiver or amplifier with no internet connection, you can connect this player to it and then stream online services as well. (Note that this can be done via the player's line out connections to the preamp, NOT the phono preamp connections.) It can then connect to other Musiccast speakers around the house and send and receive streams. In my case, I was able to physically move the player across the room from my existing receiver, so now my kids can't reach it as it's up and out of the way. Now I can link it to as many or as few speakers as I want. I also noticed the benefit of being able to listen to vinyl in other rooms while my kids watch TV through the receiver. The turntable itself is a solid belt-driven system that I think delivers superior sound. I think that when connected to other speakers, I can get a higher volume than my previous setup, which had a traditional player connected to a Music Cast receiver. The motor is really quiet and responds quickly. Like other players with higher sound quality, there is no auto start/return. It is equipped with a slowdown lever that works very smoothly and eliminates the errors that occur when lowering the pen/arm manually. There is a button to select turns; There are no adjustment straps in this system. It comes with an Audio Technica MM cartridge. So far I'm very happy with them. The only thing I can have is the price, especially when it's $700. I paid $500 and it was a little nicer because of the build quality. I hope Yamaha finds a way to lower the price a bit more and it will be great.
