Review on Brause Calligraphy And Writing Set by Dawn Fischer

Packaged in a paper bag, tips are curved

Much better than speedball tips. I am not new to calligraphy and have practiced and received speedball sets since I was a child. I recently decided to get back into calligraphy. I ordered the speedball set first. The quality is not what I am used to. The nibs were oxidized and scratched horribly on all paper materials I tried. I've tried plain lined notebook paper, mixed media paper, watercolor paper, and acrylic paper. All results were undesirable. That's why I tried this braise set. I've always heard good things about it, but I've never been able to afford it or buy it from local art stores. And I'm very glad Revain is selling it. These feathers are of much better quality than the speedball. Pens allow you to draw much smoother lines, and they are really smooth and leave clear strokes. At the same time, the seller and the warehouse paid very little attention to the packaging of feathers. As you can see from my photos, the right row of feathers arrived bent because they were in plain brown packaging. The bubble wrap was not even placed in the spring pad. Good that I have good jewelry tweezers and could fix the feathers. Also, the handle broke during shipping. While I love the Brause Dip Handle Set, I give this product 1 star for the condition it arrived in. Beginners won't know their feathers are damaged and will really have to fight it. I strongly recommend that people purchase the kit from a reputable art supply store or online retailer that understands the importance of proper art packaging techniques.

Pros
