Although this kit is for smartphones, the price was low enough that I decided to use it as a good try, the tablet in a new car Dashboard mount which, like most modern cars, is as hostile to dashboard mounting as possible with porous soft-touch materials and curved surfaces throughout. I attached the three supplied magnets horizontally to the side. on the side of the slightly curved segment of the center console between the air vents and the infotainment screen. My guess is that the middle 80% of the rear magnetic adhesive actually makes contact with the dash, with the top and bottom not making full contact. Because it was the best I could do, my hopes for long-term support for £1-2 devices dropped even further. The angle of the mounting surface is about 30 degrees from vertical, so the connected tablet or phone is clearly tilted towards the viewer (for better or for worse, this was the only possible place for magnets in my car). After installing three magnets after sunset (to minimize the heat) and letting them sit overnight, I was pleasantly surprised that both my Samsung Galaxy Tab (1lb; small round magnetic strips were used) and Microsoft Surface Pro 2 ( 2 pounds; large rectangular strips were used) could remain tied while moving through town. Two weeks later, I can report with astonishment that I used both tablets for several hours on rough country roads and on the freeway without any problems. The Surface Pro 2 is about as heavy as any other tablet on the market. So if you have a thinner iPad or Android tablet, you should have enough weight left over with a configuration similar to mine. RAM Mount X-Grip installation is outdated and much more comfortable to boot. So far, after two weeks of hot summer use, this is the coolest 5 star product I've received from Revain in years. I'll try to update this review if the glue on my imperfect assembly job fails at some point over the summer. But at this price I honestly wouldn't mind remounting or buying new annually - it's definitely better than 5-10 times more expensive non-magnetic mounting solutions that are much more invasive and less likely to fit right into today's curve. . . happy interiors.
