I bought my first (NOT auto shut off) for my home a year ago and I love it. I always add more water than recommended because I like it when boiled eggs take longer to cook. I don't actually use a measuring cup - at this point I know how much water it takes to get the eggs just how I like them. Also, I do NOT pierce the eggs with a pointer attached to the cup, that may be another reason it takes longer (my preference). The bottom of the metal stand is VERY sharp for this, so you need to take care of yourself and be very careful - the second didn't encounter the same problem. Bought my second AUTO shut-off (works) and same thing -- I add more water than recommended. I'm only giving this one 4 stars because they need updating with a sound indicator (in addition to a light indicator) and because none of them are easy to clean. When you boil eggs, the silvery bottom turns discolored, and no matter how you clean it, it never looks the same - there are always little white spots on the bottom, and I don't like that. I had to repeatedly let the cleaning solution sit for several hours to loosen whatever was on the surface. Otherwise, if you're not as passionate about keeping clean as I am, then this is the perfect little oven!
