This thing is absolutely amazing and blows a 5 year old consumer Wi-Fi router out of the water. Definitely got me planning a full Ubiquiti network build in the future when I finally treat myself to gigabit internet at home. I've had this hotspot installed on the wall in my downstairs living room for two weeks now and it's day and night. Difference to the WiFi radio in my 5 year old TP Link Archer C7. This thing reaches all four corners of my 2,300 square foot house and then some others. I get almost 90 Mbps symmetric in the farthest room at the top of my house when I pay for 100 symmetric (Gigabit coming soon when I upgrade to USG and Ubniquiti switch). This little flying saucer is pretty powerful. The controller software also offers a very easy way to manage multiple access points or other technologies that you can purchase for your network in the ubiquiti ecosystem. Since it worked on a raspberry pi before I got the AP, the install was very quick. Just go to my browser, type in my Pi's IP with https in front and add :8443 at the end and you're done in a few very simple steps. Step-by-step guide to get AP working. It only took 30 minutes to set up, 15 minutes to drill a hole for a wall mount and plug the cable into my router, poe injector and then access point. Then 15 minutes to set up the access point and update the firmware. Like my whole house. The only downside I've seen is that it's not for beginners or computer hobbyists/technicians. It requires at least some above-average knowledge to set up. I suggest if you are confused watch as many youtube videos as possible before purchasing. I've noticed that most of the 1 star reviews for this product are based on ignorance. This is NOT A ROUTER, you must have an existing router to use it, even if you don't understand the network configurations, just use the iPhone or Android app to set it up. My setup uses tp link archer c7 as router. and switch (will soon be upgraded to USG). I run the Ubiquiti controller software with a Raspberry Pi so I can keep an eye on things 24/7, and it connects to the Archer via a Cat 6a patch cable. I then run another category 6a cable to the provided injector and a category 6a cable to the access point. Easy, once you understand how easy it is, a monkey or a child can use it. I will never buy consumer devices again as long as this type of technology exists. This item is definitely worth buying and I wouldn't hesitate to buy future Ubiquiti products when they run so smoothly.
