Review on πŸƒ Nathan QuickStart Hydration Pack Running Vest: 4L Storage, 1.5L Bladder Included, Adjustable Straps & Phone Holder Pockets by Paul Hyde

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Fits and wears well. but it really sucks.

QuickStart fits very well. It's light and very comfortable. The problem is that it squirts a lot. As. Crazy. The hydration bladder has no structure at all, it sits rather loosely in a backpack. I tried turning the camera upside down and sucking the air out and that reduced the noise a bit, but there was still excessive sloshing when running. In comparison, I've been using Nathan HPL 020 2L for the last 5 years (until my bladder eventually leaked). I had almost no sloshing with this backpack and have walked thousands of miles with it. Sure it's a little heavier and the straps are a little more uncomfortable, but for longer runs (e.g. 8-20 miles) I found this solution much more satisfying. It can be rescued by built in tension straps around the middle/back to keep some pressure on the bladder. The QuickStart is probably suitable for walking or hiking as long as excess air is carefully vented. I just don't like running. But like almost all fitness technology, YMMV.

Pros
  • FUNCTIONALITY - QuickStart features a 1.5L hydration chamber, 2 front storage pockets and a zippered pocket for phone, keys and other valuables. A front pocket fits a 22-ounce water bottle. The main zippered pocket on the back offers space for extra layers of clothing and other essentials.
Cons
  • Cable shorter than others
