We used this kit to dye ties with my two daughters aged 9 and 11. This was the first time we had dyed a tie in about 3 years so it was a lot easier this time because they could do more. for yourself. The kit itself is very easy to use. You simply add water to the bottles, shake to mix and they are ready to use. It has some tie dye patterns, which you can repeat with rubber bands and some kids will definitely need help with this part. We worked outside so we didn't have to worry about the mess. We had a small problem with the color seeping into the shirts. I think I should have washed them first (I vaguely remember doing this before) so the colors would absorb better. We leave ours overnight and wash the next day. Everything has held the color well. The blue was a bit backlit, but we had plenty of brightness from the orange, pink, and yellow. We made 4 t-shirts, 5 masks, 4 pairs of socks. We ran out of water at the very end and I added some more water to the bottles and we ended up with light pastels (which ended up looking really cool!).
