I got sucked down the rabbit hole of mechanical keyboards and decided to build my own keyboard. I probably should have used a hot swap board first, but I had already ordered a board from KBDfans and it was a solder board. After hours of watching videos and soldering guides I ordered a HAKKO soldering station which is very popular and since I wanted to solder indoors I also ordered this fan. I installed a fan right before soldering and could see the smoke being sucked in. will suck in the smoke and you won't inhale it. I'm happy to report that the keyboard works (to enter this review) and the fan definitely made me feel a lot safer soldering inside. And one last tip for beginners like me, get an ESD mat, but maybe also cover the entire work area with a poster or larger board, maybe plywood, as small bits of flux will fly in all directions when soldering. You don't want to ruin your kitchen countertop. Also make sure you wear safety goggles and I enjoyed blowing while soldering to direct the smoke onto the fan just for extra safety. But yes if you are soldering indoors I would say this product is a must have. Sorry for the long review, I just love typing on my new keyboard! It's like paradise for my fingers lol.
