Not bad but needs work

My main purpose of using this clip was to attach the camera to the car's "A-pillar handrail" handle. While the clip is decent overall, there are a few caveats that gave me the "ahh" feeling. I feel like this clip was redesigned in some places but completely overlooked in others. The jaws of the clamp appear solid due to the heavy metals, but there are some very thin rubber pads in the jaws. While I like the rubber grips because they keep me from scratching other surfaces, I feel they feel too flimsy for daily or long-term use. The handle/screw system used to tighten the jaws seems weak compared to the strong material of the jaws. It seems that if you overtighten the knob, the screw itself can break in half. The good news is I haven't broken my pen yet. Moving on we get to the next section and this is where I have my problems. For the sake of this overview, we'll call this section "Barbell" because it looks like an old-fashioned strongman bar. This design gives you the illusion that you can rotate things into the position you want. However, if you take a closer look at the pictures of the listings, you will see that the bar is split lengthwise. That means you can only adjust the angle up or down/left and right. Again, this doesn't seem like much, but once you've got the first side angled exactly how you want it, you're somewhat forced to use that angle when adjusting the second side of the fretboard. in the middle of the bar, so if you loosen one side, both sides will loosen; not good. I'd rather see a compression nut on either end than a single dot in the middle. The pin that fits into the bottom of your flashlight or camera needs a little Loctite to keep it from twisting. The male and female threads should not mesh very tightly so that vibration can cause your gear to loosen and fall off the mount. In general the camp is not terrible but needs some attention. It would be nice to see a pivot at each end of the bar to allow for more flexibility. Also reduce the tolerances on the male and female mating points to make the connection point more secure. If you need it as an internal attachment point for an external camera flash or similar. You may not have any design issues at all. I hope this review helps you and allows you to think more about your application.
