There are few things I dislike more than cleaning up dirty spilled engine oil and for some reason I can't seem to get the oil on any engine to change and without spilling anything. So I finally decided to try an oil change pump. To be honest I thought it would be less efficient than it was. As you can see in my video, after everything is adjusted correctly (hoses and battery connections), the only thing left to watch is the oil consumption. My lawn mower has a 1.9 liter capacity and it took the pump about 5 minutes to get it out. Everyone. I played around with the hose's position a bit to make sure it didn't miss the lowest point. Among other things, I made sure that the pump really pumped everything out by having the engine use 1.9 liters on intake before the dipstick showed it was full. I like that the pump has an on/off switch because it would be very inconvenient to plug and unplug the battery cables to stop it. Although I've read that the pump can pump 4 liters per minute, I'm assuming the end of the hose is fully submerged in water. So in my case it seems like it gets most of the oil in the first few minutes and then it has to work to remove things that are just sitting too low to suck clean. Either way I can change the oil in my mower without spilling a drop. It's good for the environment and good for those who don't like messing around with cleaning.
