I'm not someone who values one star reviews or writes such ratings. Especially at a company like Corsair. I usually either write them off as outliers or assume the reviewer didn't know how to use the product properly. I can tell you from experience that was not the case. I'd like to start by saying I've been a loyal Corsair customer for almost 20 years, first as an enthusiast building gaming computers for myself and now also as part of my career. The PC I'm writing this review on is made up of at least 50% Corsair components. No longer. The problem started when I installed the RAM kit on May 22nd as I have done hundreds of times before. When booting, the PC did not report and I smelled acrid electrical burning. I disconnected the power and found that the RAM on the B1 bus was burned, destroying the stick and melting the bus. Terrible news, but I've never had a single problem with a Corsair product, and surely a company this big and respectable would be happy to make a loyal customer whole, right? Not correct. I submitted a damage/RMA claim to Corsair and was asked to provide a receipt and pictures of the damaged product and my motherboard. Pretty standard stuff. But 28 days, 33 emails and 5 long phone calls later I still couldn't get a solution from them and ended up being forced to return the item to Revain before my return deadline. They asked for these photos on 3 separate occasions as if the staff I was handed to every 3-4 days (I assume as soon as their SLA window alerted them that someone had to give the ticket another quick touch so it didn't went obsolete) had not read previous notes. At one point, after being "escalated" for the second time, they actually asked me to remove my motherboard and send it to them. You read that right, they wanted me to completely disassemble my PC and send them the board "for testing" and then the damaged components would be "disposed of". In order to fulfill a warranty claim they actually asked me to destroy my PC and then they would throw my CPU and motherboard in the trash. For ONE STICK with bad RAM. Insane. It's as if the whole process was designed to frustrate the customer into voiding the warranty. Anyway, I finally settled on a similar product from a competitor ($50 cheaper, although I can't make 4 sticks more than my B1 bus is dead) and it works great. When Corsair received notification that I had completed the Revain return, they had the nerve to email me and offer to give me a $50 gaming mouse "for all the inconvenience." - to send dollars. What a joke. I encourage you to do your due diligence before purchasing any Corsair product in the future. In the last 2 years there have been countless negative reviews on the Internet regarding customer service and product quality. The once great company fell off a cliff. I myself am on my way to the BBB to file a complaint next. Corsair, you lost a loyal customer of 20 years to a lousy stick of RAM. I hope it was worth it.
