Review on Enhance Aquarium Filtration with Powkoo Filter Intake Sponge: Fish Tank Filter Sponge Covers & Guard by Clint Blackman

I bought a pre-filter from Aquarium Coop last year and it was perfect. I wanted to try this product to save money and was very disappointed. I have a Marineland Penguin 350. This product did not fit the air intake very well and had to be stretched to fit. Filters are not large enough to be effective and provide little surface area for beneficial bacteria. The structure of the sponge is very closed-cell, which leaves little room for the water to drain. After installing the product at the inlet of my filter and turning on the pump, it immediately became apparent that maybe not enough water was going through it, causing my HOB filter to make a loud noise when trying to suck in water. Due to its design, it became clogged very quickly during the day and I threw it away. I would not recommend this pre-filter.
