Review on Tetra 78002 Whisper Gallon Filter by Jessica Gibson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Engineering masterpiece (INCREASED QUIET, HIGH AIR VENTING, AFFORDABLE)

This product is really brilliant. It's enough that I'm actually writing a review. I thought the filter manufacturers had given up trying to improve their filtering process. I've seen complaints about the motor design, but that's understandable if you don't have a technical background or have seen the filter in action. Basically, when the motor is separated from the filter base frame, the vibrations caused by the motor disappear. insulated and suspended in the water which absorbs sound and prevents the actual shaking of the filter chamber that many people struggle with when it comes to noise (even has extra dampening material to further prevent vibration transmission). This is a SILENT filter, I can't hear it until I lift the aquarium lid and put my ear to the water. I've used Aqua Clear, Marina, Aqua Tech and old Tetra filters and nothing beats the silence they offer. I have a 20 gallon tank 3 feet from where I sleep and I can't hear anything. I was very worried about having to move the tank after installation but this filter is the best. Movement of the water surface (which you need, otherwise your fish will not be able to breathe, because gas exchange will bring oxygen into the water). You can see it really churning up the water with a slight "dent" even before entering. Even the bimedia bulb impressed me, the curved "resistors" on its top provide a really good place for bacteria to gather and dilute the water for more aeration. of course it's great but seems expensive and I used my own filler configuration). I set up a 20 gallon filter to use clear mechanical sponges, I also cut the included filter material in half and removed the charcoal to use as filter floss. , and there is a transparent biological environment on my water. (3 packs of sponge cost $1.82, I use two (they can be reused all the time, clean them with water when they get uncomfortable, Amazon has cheap filter floss and Biocarrier cost me about $3 and it's forever, get a 30 gallon size and for the medium as the compartment is large.) It's a lot more environmentally friendly than using a tetra spare medium but the CLEANING IS DIRRITER I also use the included blue biological filter compartment because it's easy is great I also recommend water intake a sponge to cover it if you are training snails or a rooster like me (check out marina filters for example) and arctic char come out to play this is the filter you to need.
