Installed on a 1980 Yamaha XS1100. As others have said. It didn't show up right away. The alignment tabs are correct. But the base was a little big to fit in the recess. About 2-3 minutes with the file did the trick. In comparison, the replaced old Sylvania bulb fitted perfectly and had little wiggle room. However (and I'll admit I had a feeling of depression when I had to resort to the archiving project, I did get a feeling of depression about the $40 I just spent) when I finished the install and ran it. IMPRESSIVE! Hands down the best light I've ever seen. I'm buying a pair for my car. It emits a white light that makes the road clearly visible and traffic signs visible. A few years ago I had a very nice off-road million candlepower light on my bike. It is better. Another caveat: you need to be 100% sure your light is properly focused. If the hair is too high or too low, you will think you have a bad bulb. Show them the right way and you'll be a happy (and safe) camper! Also, my bike is 40 years old and hasn't had any electrical compatibility issues. The company offers an opportunity to request a free resistor if you have flickering etc.
