I have personal experience with Panamax preventing repeated lightning damage to my father's TV/satellite over the years, even the utility company attempts to prevent this with line suppressors (it's long land journey with electricity at the end, so there are a lot of power surges during storms). Panamax was the only brand that had success - in the old Panamax days there were thermal fuses in surge protectors that sacrificed themselves, but modern versions are also very well designed. Not many mufflers can actually perform as advertised, but I would go with this brand. They were good for replacing silencers if sacrificed, but they came with a warranty replacing the units if damage occurred. This PM8-EX is rugged, heavy, well built and with well spaced outlets, perfect for entertainment centers, computer desks, etc. Nice long cord.
