160/320 GB in VXA-3/Now Tandberg

I recommend Tandberg/Exabyte backup solutions and media. Tandberg has acquired Exabyte and a website describing available media is at [. ] I hope Revain can update the description of this product. The VXA-2 drive has a tape capacity of 80/160 GB, while the VXA-3 drive has a tape capacity of 160/320 GB. I have used the VXA-2 1X7 autoloader for many years and recently installed the VXA-3 1X10 autoloader. The systems performed well using first Dantz and now EMC2 Retrospect as the backup utility. I was typically able to store less than advertised tape capacity (70GB on the VXA-2 and 130GB on the VXA-3). Backup speeds range from 100MB/min to 700MB/min on a modern PC with an Adaptec SCSI controller. Backup capacity and performance are highly dependent on the type of material being backed up. Many small files that don't compress well take longer to back up than large compressible files.
