Will not fit F25 (2016) X3 without modification

This item does not claim compatibility with X3 but I ordered it anyway because someone answered yes. Upon receipt I verified that the tab interferes with the vent control details. To make everything work "good enough" I cut out the tongue and glued it to the car with epoxy as shown in the pictures. Unable to find an equivalent part for the X3, this was my best bet. In general I am satisfied, but I would like a part that fits my car model without mods or glue.
