In fact these caps are NOT universal

The caps look nice but too high, shorter body lengths or internal recess depths solves all problems. long thread lengths and are not recommended for use with other types of stems, they are NOT universal. Considering they are so large, the standard valve stem thread length is shorter than the cap thread depth. The bonnet sits on the shoulder of the valve stem rubber well before it can make contact with the rubber seal inside the bonnet. There is at least 1/8 inch clearance between the rubber seat and the top surface of the valve stem. Haven't removed my calipers yet but quickly measured the depth in the cap versus the threads visually and with a rod. The stem length to the rubber shoulder on my stems would indicate a distance of about 1/8 inch. If the supplier increases the height of the gasket this could solve the problem or at least provide additional gaskets to insert to make the required contact if they don't want to decrease the height is also a possible solution. Valve stem caps not only look good, they are designed to seal out dirt and air in the valve stem bore. I think technically 1st achieved, 2nd doubtful. Nice try, but bad execution.

Pros
  • They inspire confidence
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
