Tips for use with 64-bit Win7 - Driver complexity

The card works because I now use miniDV tapes from an old Sony camcorder copy to my computer . Turn off the device, install the card (choose the right mount first). Note: This is a PCI-E (PCI-Express) x1 card. Make sure you have a compatible motherboard. The card was not found. But no problem, the instructions on page 1 advise you to go to the website for the latest drivers. There's a minidisc in the box, but it's always best to get the latest version online. I'm trying to install said drivers, but the installation always fails. My motherboard is Asus MB with nVidia chipset and AMD Phenom X2. So a few years ago. Then I remembered that the nVidia drivers are not very standard, so I uninstalled the nvidia network driver. This allowed the driver to be installed. reboot. Drivers from an unknown company are not showing up in Device Manager. But my Sony camcorder shows as "Sony (null)". without much help from Google for that. The next step was to select the update driver for the FireWire card and select the Microsoft driver (select from the list) for the FireWire card. after maybe another restart everything works. So I deducted a star for the "advice" to install drivers for the card, using Microsoft's built-in drivers would be much better. Note: nvidia chipset (integrated network) drivers have nothing to do with the quality of this card, but if someone else can benefit from my experience and save some time.
