Buy cheap, get what you pay for!

When I first took the tools out of the box I checked them for fit and finish and thought they looked pretty good for the price. However, when it comes to tools, the real test is how well they do their job. They also did a good job of stripping the insulation without cutting through the copper. The instructions that came with the crimping tools were attached to the tool's handle. Very small fonts required a magnifying glass, and this was made worse by the fact that the label was placed vertically at 3/4 the pen diameter. In the end it didn't matter. The instructions were pure gibberish. It seems that the instructions were written with a very bad translation program. Most of the words were English (some were Chinese) but they made absolutely no sense! Since I already knew how to work with a crimping tool, I continued. A chart was printed on the back of the tool indicating which dies to use for each wire size. I selected appropriate stamps and applied pressure. When I removed the terminal from the tool I was impressed with the appearance of the crimp. It did not last long. When I checked the crimp by pulling on it, the terminal disengaged from the cable with very little force. I crimped again with the same dies and got the same result. I selected the next smaller die set and crimped again. I got a good crimp this time. Unfortunately the crimp doesn't look good anymore. The copper of the terminal was extruded between the two halves of the die, leaving rough edges on either side of the terminal. In the end, I came to the conclusion that the tool wasn't up to the task. I sent it back.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
