1st review (will update again after a few months) Why I chose this unit: If you own a 2015+ WRX/STi and want to improve the sound, you've probably seen John Nguyens Device . YouTube video with all Android head units. The latest WRX/STi heads he has reviewed are the iDoing, but before settling on the Dasaita I also compared Joying and Seicane, other big names in these types of heads. I chose Dasaita from other brands as I wanted what I thought was the newest and fastest processor and the most up to date Android which is 9 ATM for all these devices but if you don't want to spend 600 just give 300 to iDoing out. has Android 9 and a PX5 chip unless there is a more recent one. There are 2 screws on the sides and 2 on top so basically only 1 panel is removed for each screw. The wiring is also fairly easy to connect as you will receive 2 sets depending on the WRX/STi year with each wire labeled in English and Chinese but you just know where to connect each one. It took me about 2 hours to figure everything out from removing the old device to transferring everything to the new and plugging everything in, but if I were to do it all over again on the new one it would probably take 45 minutes and it took at least a few more hours of playing around to get the settings and everything I wanted right on it. Tech Review: Compared to the latest Android phones (like my Pixel 3 XL), it's not as fast as expected, but it's fast enough. If you enable Auto Sleep it will load much faster, but without it it might take 5-10 seconds to start. I have a 2016 WRX Premium and the default sound wasn't even as good as my phone's speakers. I switched to factory OEM Kicker speakers and an Alpine Powerpack amp and in my opinion it went from OEM 2/10 to Kickers/Amp 6/10 which was tolerable but now the sound with this unit is definitely 12/10 . Even at volume level 1, it has great power in music. For some reason not all android apps work with it due to the screen setting or the apps themselves, but they are not fully optimized for this platform anyway. so just for info. I only use the Radio app, A2DP for Bluetooth audio, Musicolet which I think is the best music app for music you want to play from HDD or USB, Android Auto and offline Google Maps. I only update the wifi when I park in my driveway as I can't get the hotspot to work. In general, it is of very high quality in electronic form. The screen is as sharp as any phone's screen (when I tried YouTube) and it's just superb. The backup cam was fine when I plugged it in and as the screen is larger than stock it's blurrier but still works well. The packaging it came in was as nice as some well-known brands like Sony or other companies. My brother bought an Alpine ILX-F259 for his Tundra before I bought this one and I would say the quality is almost comparable in terms of look and feel. Cons: There is a gap at the top and side of the vents. , and a frame around the screen. They told me to cut off the inner clamps to mount them, which I tried to no avail. I was able to return 100 to make up for this and they will send a replacement bezel as you can unscrew the screen to fit another bezel so we'll see later if that fixes the gaps. TLDR: $600 for it? It's up to you, but knowing what I know now, I'd go with the highest spec iDoing at half the price. I'm sticking with it as I don't want to go through the hassle of returning and buying another to solve more problems. Will update after a few months of use, hope it helps.
