Read reviews. Some say the white plastic insert gets stuck in the clear glass and can't be removed for cleaning; others said the glass had to be at room temperature or warmer for the components to separate. After much use I took the jug out of the fridge, poured myself a tall glass of H2O and since the jug was empty I left it, thinking it was time to clean it out. Came to room temperature. The white piece slipped out. No problem. I read reviews. Some people say the filter doesn't fit snugly in its seat and you can watch water seep around the outer edge of the filter and into the jug outside of the area where all water should drain. I made sure the groove on the filter lined up with the plastic rod in the white top component of the jug; then I pushed him until he was quite neat. No water leaked around the filter. As for durability, I haven't dropped it, but it's not a cheap product IMHO. As for the water, I haven't run any tests, scientifically or otherwise, but to me it's clean, fresh, and delicious, so I suspect something good is going on in this thing.
