Modest monitor - my new review

Lots of good reviews for this monitor. ☺ The price seemed reasonable to me, so I grabbed it. I performed an SRGB color calibration using DisplayCAL and a Spyder5 colorimeter. That might seem excessive for a budget monitor, but that's exactly what I did. ☻ Results show that the monitor does not meet Scepter's stated "99% sRGB". It was close though (see attached image of the calibration results). ☻ The speakers are the same as those found in the dollar store. Calibrated, there's plenty of room if you want to boost colors/brightness for vivid images. ☺ The base is heavy enough to support the monitor. But you have to be careful with the monitor itself as it is short-lived. ☻ The on-screen controls offer a lot of customization options, but one important parameter is missing - the color temperature. Yes, there are some basic color settings ("normal" and "cool"). There are separate controls for RGB and brightness. ☻ This monitor is a bit smaller than I expected given what Scepter claims. ☻ Suitable for Photoshop? Don't expect miracles, a simple gradient from white to dark blue will bring out some streaks.☺ Suitable for gaming? Yes, 75Hz improves the situation and the LED display technology gives a good picture (value for money).☺ Suitable for 3D/CAD? Normally yes.

Pros
  • Refresh rate up to 75Hz. With a 75Hz refresh rate, images change faster and smoother than usual, reducing screen tearing.
Cons
  • Limited adaptive sync options
