Good in Theory ONLY

I was so excited when the hospital gave me these after placing a picc line. First of all, the hospital said to make sure that no one takes my blood pressure on this arm or take blood from it separate from the picc and definitely not to allow a tourniquet to be placed on it. I followed the directions exactly. The directions tell you to try to put your finger under the band to see if it's placed correctly. You have to tighten this thing pretty tight which ends up tighter than a tourniquet. Well I took the quickest shower I could AND kept turned to the side to ensure my arm with the cover didn't have any direct contact with the water. When I got out and dried everything off, I saw water droplets inside the glove. I couldn't get it off fast enough. I checked my bandage and a part of it was wet. Then I remembered why the glove was familiar to me. It's the same material of glove that is included with hair dye packages. Not the expensive ones like John Frieda who give you nice impenetrable gloves, but the ones that come with things like Nice and Easy that tear the moment you spread your fingers. Well I figured out how the inside got wet.It wasn't water at all.it's sweat! you are creating a sauna the moment you tighten the strap. I am now looking for another solution because press and seal doesn't work, especially when you have no one to help you put it on.

Pros
  • Safe for use on both adults and children, making it a versatile option
Cons
  • The gloves may not fit properly on individuals with irregularly shaped hands or fingers
