I really don't know why I chose them. They differ slightly in that they are made of foam with no lambswool lining. This makes them quite stiff but I'm sure they will break over time. I'm a woman with big hands I think. I almost bought the XL but chose the large thinking I could make it work even if it's too tight. To my surprise they are too big. Since they are so big and sturdy I am sending them back and choosing the middle one. The black material on the cuff looks a bit cheap but I'm sure it still blocks the wind. Not a bad buy. They're pretty big, so keep that in mind.
