Wiring Harness Issues

While this was a simple plug and play remote start addition to the SCYTEK A777, the vehicle would not remote start as intended. Luckily I still had a complete module and also a SCYTEK A777. Despite a long troubleshooting process, I finally found out that a manufacturing defect had occurred. In the wiring harness that connects the main A777 to this remote start module, two of the 4 wires have been swapped as seen in the images above. On the "white" side of the same harness, the wires were L to R, BLACK, RED, WHITE, GREEN, and on the "black" side of the same harness, L to R, the wires were RED, BLACK, WHITE, GREEN The RED and BLACK wires were out of order. Replacing them, simply removing them from their positions and aligning them properly solved the problem. Luckily I had a complete replacement for the A777 as well as the remote start connector module so repairing the A777 and remote start connector came down to the wiring harness. Careful observation of the wiring harness revealed the problem, but the troubleshooting process took about 2 hours to resolve. I wasn't impressed. I would caution people about these less expensive types of alarms for similar reasons. More expensive Viper alarms tend to have a higher level of quality assurance.
