The bowl is rigid without any flexing, which is important when using it for mixing cake mixes etc or even when carrying it. However, I have decided to use it as a planter for my Christmas cacti. I drilled 3 small holes in the bottom for the drain and used a lid under the bowl to catch the water that ran out. I got a pink bowl so when the cactus blooms it should look really pretty. I definitely recommend this item!
