Obtaining key fobs is a very expensive undertaking. As long as you have two working fobs, you can quickly and easily program one (or two) more to have backups. I want to backup my keys and from time to time I lose my keys which means I have backup copies. They are extremely economical! The hardest part is finding someone to make the keys for you. When I first got them, Home Depot cut them out for free. Last time neither they nor Walmart did it and the actual key places offered me $60 to make the key. I finally found out that Ace Hardware cut them out for me for free since I don't buy their keys, so I cut them all out. The key works great, it's easy to program (but tedious) and I now have working additions. One of the keys I ordered doesn't work FOB but I'm actually ok with that because I can take it with me if there's a security issue and I just need the key to get back in my van. If someone stole my key they could walk around FOB until my van responded and then drive away. I think I might get more soon just as a backup.
