I have used this item quite a bit and it worked for me on my Lenovo laptop without any problems. I had a colleague who borrowed it and tried to use it with a Microsoft Surface running Windows 8. But with this connection, the Surface kept going to the Home/Start screen and it didn't touch anything. For this presentation he used PowerPoint and Excel and it didn't matter which application was running, it just switched to the start screen. Not sure if this was an issue with this adapter or with the Microsoft Surface, but thought I should mention the issue (btw, a co-worker with Surface returned it because he hated it). I have gotten many colleagues to take the adapter and use it with several other types of laptops, mainly different models of Lenovo laptops, and they all worked with this adapter without any problems. large display port on it.
