Microsoft Business Intelligence product suite has been very beneficial for one large customer

The ability of Roles within an organization can be defined via permissions assigned from the user interface (UI). A great UI experience along w/out having multiple versions in place would greatly reduce some concerns we had as end users who were looking at different implementations across our orgs - esp given they all used RS reports heavily without problems or issues previously when there was nothing but vanilla BI products being consumed by those groups priorly before this rollout took over last Oct 17th thru Jan 11ths timeframe. We have many legacy systems which do still rely upon these traditional SQL Reporting Server / SSRS deployments however their implementation is far behind other more modern tech & frameworks available now such us MS Azure Databasess etc.. The most important feature is Data Integration which allows me connect my ERP system data in SSAS (MSSQL) directly without writing custom code like ODBC or DAO. I can use SQL Server query from within BI Publisher instead of ADODB/ADOX DLLs as we do currently but have difficulty integrating other databases than MYSql. We needed this because our customers were using various database vendors so having single source of truth was essential.

Pros
  • We have a single source of truth
Cons
  • We have legacy systems which do still rely upon these traditional SQL Reporting Server / SSRS deployments.
