If you like cheap, expensive and difficult to maintain aquariums, then this aquarium is for you!

When I first bought this tank, I was very excited. The design looked really cool, a bit cheap but for the price it was acceptable. Once I started the aquarium, I soon realized that the filter's current would be too strong for my bettas. I slowed the flow out of the filter by putting an adapter on the air hose. Everything was good. It filters well, the lighting is good and the aquarium in general is good. Even though I was wrong. I started to lose satisfaction with the aquarium once I started changing the filters. I didn't know how expensive the filters were. The instructions recommend changing the filter every month. Filters range from $10 to $15 for just one! I have never had an aquarium with a filtration system that was so expensive to maintain for such a small aquarium. The cheapest price I could find for filters when replaced as recommended would be $120 a year! (Just for the record, I've had other small tanks that I only spent $35 a year on filters for.) In addition to the high price, each filter had a plastic mold that held it together when it was replaced. Every month this plastic mold had to be thrown away. These filters could easily have been designed to reuse plastic, but had to be scrapped due to poor design (just a warning to those concerned about the environment). Maintaining a filtration system is a lot of work and a big mess. Before you get to the filter, you must remove all decorations inside the tank, including the heater (if you have one), as this will block the path to removing the filter. I had the last straw with the tank when the remote to turn on the lights stopped working. It never worked well initially, but eventually stopped working (yes, I changed the batteries). Another thing I might add is that tank cleaning is intimidating. There's nothing easy about that. In general, the tank looks attractive, but the functionality is terrible! I do not recommend.
