Good case for the price with nice aluminum construction

This case works great with the 1TB SanDisk SSD I have. According to Crystal Disk Mark, read and write speeds are over 400 MB per second for sequential read and write. Similar speeds from the basic hdparm check in Linux. Of course, if you're transferring a lot of small files, things won't be as fast (and that's common with most drives, and not just in this case). The case uses the jMicron chipset which is recognized and works fine for me on Windows 10 and Linux (Ubuntu 20.04 and Mint) without any special processing or drivers. I chose this case because of good price, small size, USB 3 speed, UASP transfer (increases speed compared to pure bulk transfer), metal body and well-known Antek brand. I am very happy with the results. Note that external bus-powered USB devices like this may have limitations due to limited power or signal issues over the USB cable. It probably won't work with 2.5 inch rotating platters. Or if the power consumption of the SSD is too high for your USB port, there may also be similar problems. I purchased USB-3, USB-C to USB-A adapters separately to use with this drive as it comes with a USB-C cable on both ends. They work great with it on all but Single Board Computer (SBC) devices and I had to use a full USB 3 AC power cord instead of an adapter to get full USB 3 speed on this particular computer. For higher transfer speeds you really need to be sure you have a good cable, especially on some low powered computers or USB implementations. It must also be a USB 3 port or higher for full speed. Also note that some USB-C charging cables don't have all the cables needed for full USB 3 or 3.1 speeds and will only work at USB 2 speeds (maximum 35-40MB per second). be able. I am satisfied with this device. for my needs and would buy it again if I had another SSD I wanted to fit in the case.

Pros
  • Hard drive case
Cons
  • Socket required
