When you buy an expensive lens for 1.5-2k dollars, you want it to be no worse in all respects than cheaper analogues + a "zest" for which you pay such money, so to speak, a feature. 85 f1.2L gave very ambiguous impressions, on the one hand 1.2, YES it's COOL! 1.2 very rare aperture + cool bokeh, pattern, etc. BUT . focusing speed . here is a bummer 85 1.8 times 5 faster and 5 times cheaper . somehow not very. + sharpness is not very different at f 2 (compare both lenses at the same aperture) In addition, when focusing, the trunk of 85 1.2 leaves . But everything is different with EF 85 f1,4L IS USM ! He is cool in everything - sharpness, focusing speed, constructive + "zest" - This is a stub ! yes, there are no analogues at all with such an 85 mm aperture full-frame with a stub ! I tried to compare with sigma 85 1.4 art - I canβt say anything, because. there were continuous misses on the sigma, (adjustment was necessary) But even without photographs, one thing is clear - canon 85 1.4 IS - Lighter, smaller, with a stub, and a very convenient filter diameter - 77 mm (for sigma 86 mm - very rare and expensive filters, the price of optics is almost equalized) 5 months ago there was a case - the lens fell to the floor from a height of about 1.2 m. It works without problems, there are no complaints. Autofocus works great, stabilizer too. It speaks of reliability.
