Review on Enhance Safety with Wireless LED Stair Lights 3 Pack - Motion Sensor, Battery Operated - Perfect for Stairs, Closets, and Night Lighting by Ron Patel

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not for a closet or in places that require high installation, Not very bright

Chosen based on reviews. They had to enter a closet, technically a storage room under the stairs, about 7ft x 7ft and 8ft high. The problem with these LEDs is that they are very directional and scatter little or no light. They were initially set up at about 4 feet and when turned on all the light was directed downwards with very little light on the opposite side. We then set them up at 7.5ft and while that was slightly better, most of the light was still pointing down. Upon closer inspection, we found that the two LEDs inside are actually positioned to reflect light downward rather than down and across. With such a downward light, the light does not appear very bright either. Other problems found. The motion sensor seems to have a mind of its own. 3 times out of 5 it wouldn't turn on at all until he waved his hand under the sensor. I'm talking about a pitch black dark area. The back cover of the battery pack is oily and so smooth that it slipped off when I touched it with my finger, causing the back cover and lamp to become detached and fall off. In order to have enough light in this area I intended them for I would need at least two of them on opposite walls but since the motion sensor works I decided not to leave them and they come back. These LEDs are more suitable as an orientation light in the dark. Places where they are installed closer to the ground. Even then, with their easy throw, I think you'll need one every 5 feet. As a cabinet light or if you plan to mount it high I wouldn't recommend it.
