I bought this pen primarily to see if my husband and I would enjoy pyrography enough to warrant a high-end model, so we went with it all the bells and whistles expected nothing. We took every opportunity this week and enjoyed every minute. I've posted a photo of what we've been able to do so far and we're pretty sure it's worth getting a high-end model now that we've gotten comfortable with the medium. In the meantime, we leave a review to take advantage of the promotion offered to us. Pros: - While it's not the cheapest pyrography pen, it comes with some of those bells and whistles. As I mentioned earlier, at a reasonable price. The kit contained excellent documentation that not only explained how to care for the pen, its nibs and fingertips, but also gave an overview of pyrography and how to get started with it. Lots of different tips. It's just fun to try new ones when we get back to that. Variable temperature which we will probably use at some point. Cons: The stylus is a little uncomfortable due to the overall length of the tip and the short cord. .-It gets quite warm after prolonged use but I'm really not sure if I should put this on the pros or cons list because it takes time. The included instructions state that you can use pliers to tighten the tips an additional 1/16 turn, which allows them to be held firmly, but at the risk of over-tightening, which can permanently fuse the tip to the handle. Cooling down between tip changes is boring. Summary: My husband and I are happy with it and will be leaving a review shortly after purchase so we can get another one of these pens for the promotion we received. I posted a photo of what my husband and I managed to do in about 5 hours. We'll also update this review if the situation changes, but so far we're happy with it, so look forward to the next one.
