I bought one for a 4,000+ mile motorcycle ride through the Rocky Mountains and back to Minnesota. He attached my backpack to the top case (so I could lean on something if needed). All other bungees I've used in this situation so far have always been stretchable or fixed length, either too short or too long. This worked great.
