It works and it works well but has some changes

First of all I've been repairing ATV's of all kinds for over 40 years so this isn't my first rodeo. The Bayou 220, 250 and 300 carburetor has some age problems. The two main problems are dirt in the enrichment circuit (which counts as a choke valve) and a broken control air screw. If the latter happens you're done, it'll never idle or idle properly again - the pilot screw is a very fine point and when people lower it to set it back to the factory 1.5rpm they snap off the top of the carburetor. - done for good. When an enrichment circuit is clogged, it's difficult to start, but nobody seems to clean it up, and it gets worse. No $20 ebay recovery kits will ever help, and used carbs with probably the same problem from $150 ebay won't help either. And here's the carbohydrate. Yes it's cheap but it works. I used a standard needle in the normal position. They look the same, but the taper, the taper speed is carefully timed, and note if the production was just as accurate. You will notice that the fuel lines are much smaller. at 220, okay I think 250 is fine too, but at 300 I would think for long runs at high speeds. Suppose there may be too much drag in the smaller line on a long westbound desert road. the fuel connections INSIDE are the same, but the burr of the hose pressed into the carburetor is too small and if mana overhears. Note Note. You still need to get a resizing notch to accommodate the fuel lines (standard fuel lines will leak regardless of the clamp OR use a different size in-line fuel filter - I think the fuel filter is a must. Route the hoses accordingly so that If this is not the case The engine will get hot Now for the tuning The enrichment valve on this carburettor does not pass as much fuel as the original As for the pilot screw - this passage is smaller than the original so you need closer to 3 turns around getting the correct idle and getting the throttle on the spool carb to factory rpm - dunno, I've spent 6 work hours on this machine since it was installed and adjusted and it works because the pilot circuit is leaner which is where it seems to stop idling at fast gas give a little slower - but this ver gaser does not have an accelerator pump like an sp has an orthopedic quad. $20 vs $150 is worth the effort, but again I doubt they'll pass the river with little enough resistance for a 300. These quads have been out of production for a long time, but they are inherently bulletproof. Chevrolet Rovers from ATVs - Run Forever. Repair carburetors inexpensively. This is an example where it works cheaper.
