I love the finished product but it wasn't easy to obtain. I had to rely solely on instructions until the memory of what I had done before returned. That's the main problem with the set. Instructions. They are printed on both sides of a large piece of paper (19" x 25"), the sections are placed where they fit, so you end up having to fold a lot. Instructions are scarce, don't give clues and don't keep up to date, it's easy to miss or not understand something. The kits I've made in the past have been far more informative than this one, and memorizing snippets of previous instructions helped me here. The main omission in this kit is not telling you to staple large (especially) pieces of felt before appliqué. This will save you hours/days of frustration, especially with wind instruments. (Pining does not work on thick layers of felt). You often need to refer to the photo that came with the stocking, and sometimes you need to figure things out. Lots of yarn, beads and sequins are included, but do not include fiberfill and large embroidery needle. (I used stuffing from a cheap stuffed animal for this, you don't need much) The needles that came with them weren't very good so I used my own (Singer range) and you'll need to get a needle threader because you'll change the thread a lot . I also bought some fine detailing scissors and highly recommend you do the same. They make ALL the difference because you usually have to cut parts on the wrong side of the line and cutting accuracy is really important here. You will spend many hours assembling it, make it as easy as possible for yourself. This kit is not suitable for beginners, it is better if you have stocking hand sewing/knitting experience (and patience). But when you're done with it, it will be an impressive job.
