I used this antenna to extend the range of my gate controls with a 433mhz signal. Before I connected this antenna I only got about 25 feet (and even that was inconsistent) that was just to the end of my street where the gate is located (the control box with the receiver is installed in the garage). Now I have constant signal from across my yard (about 50 feet from the front of the driveway). The antenna cable was long enough to attach the antenna to a downspout under the canopy with a magnet. The antenna is lightweight and the magnetic base is strong enough to keep it securely in place even in strong winds. I had to cut the filament of the coaxial connector at the end of the cable and strip the wire to connect it to the receiver. In order to use this antenna to transmit a gate operator or garage door signal it is important to note that you must use the connect the middle wire (inside the white insulation) to the receiver of the input terminal and connect the outer shield wire (which is wrapped outside the white insulation but inside the black outer insulation) to the ground terminal. My receiver came with only a short, insulated wire connected to the input connector and no instructions for connecting the antenna, although the antenna was an optional accessory for an additional $65 plus shipping; so i initially only connected the middle wire to the input and completely cut off the shield wire. When this resulted in virtually no reception more than a few feet from the receiver I decided to reconnect it with a bare shield wire and connect it to ground and indeed reception was consistent at least 75 feet away which is the optimum distance to activate.
