Review on 🍢 19.5 oz BPA-Free Glass Water Bottle with Silicone Sleeve - Anchor Hocking Life Durable, Wide Mouth, Leak Proof Design by Andrew Dinelli

Almost a winner - manufacturing and assembly issues need to be addressed

FIVE STARS for the large borosilicate glass bottle, stainless steel cap and matching silicone stopper. FOUR STARS for the unpleasant fruity-chemical smell of all silicone parts: sleeves; Cork; and sealing ring. And for gluing the sleeve to the bottle. Prolonged soaking in soapy water didn't reduce the odor nor did the case come off. The manufacturer's advice to remove the sleeve - soak, run your finger under, peel off - doesn't work. I was finally able to get the sleeve off by working under it long enough to get to all the glue and loosen it, but now there are streaks of glue on the bottle that I can't remove. Stink. I bought a bottle for pure water, but it quickly takes on the smell and taste. We have many silicone kitchen utensils - completely odorless. I attempted to hack this bottle (see photo) by replacing the o-ring with a single cut from a silicone spoon rest and sealing the cork with plastic wrap. But last night I popped the cork with a drop of water I drank this morning - bleaaak. I think the water can absorb the outgassing just by being close to the sleeve. Hey, I really tried, but this bottle is coming back. Anchor Hocking, please try silicone parts from other sources again - I really wanted to like this bottle.
