Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Brilliant Illumination with Feit Electric: Enhance Your Space by Robert White

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Attention limited options!

I had a Feit remote controlled color changing lightbulb that I bought from Menards a few years ago (the white setting wasn't very bright but was acceptable). It recently failed and I bought a Revain to replace it. This product (also a Feit brand but with much higher light output and wattage than my old one - meaning at least the whites are brighter) prompted me to pay more for Wi-Fi/Smart compared to around $5 products Bulb Other manufacturers were wireless remote controls instead of WiFi bulbs with app support, such as B. the Feit color changer. This lamp only works in the 2.4 GHz WiFi band. My router is configured to intelligently switch between 2.4 and 5 GHz using a network name. I had no problem connecting a new or old WiFi device to the network using these settings). However, I could not get the light bulb to recognize/connect to the app and my router in this router setup. I had to reprogram my router to use separate 2.4 and 5 GHz bands (each with different names) in order to plug in the lightbulb (which means I'll have to reconnect a lot of WiFi-enabled devices to one or the other of my now disconnected and disconnected would need to connect named devices ). Wi-Fi networks 2.4 and 5 GHz). After completing this task, the lightbulb was able to connect to the 2.4GHz network I created without any problems. After doing all this work and then playing around with the bulb control app, I found that you can only set a static color or white. (Note: there are different variations/gradations of white; from soft to daylight etc which was nice and the white was pleasantly bright in all white conditions). , this bulb didn't have an option to set the colors to rotate automatically, so it would cycle through each color and switch from one to the next. I was able to choose from many different gradients, but only one color at a time, even when I chose from ROYBGV's core offerings, rather than adjusting the color with the "120 Colors" gradient picker. Since my old lightbulb could do this with a simple push of a button on the remote, it was clear this lightbulb would do it, but the app doesn't offer this as a settings option. Thinking that maybe I just couldn't find the right setting in the app, I called Feit support. My call was answered quickly, and after explaining my question - if I could turn on automatic color switching - I was told I was being "transferred to this department" (whatever that means). After waiting for more than 10 minutes (starting my Revain return process while waiting) only to learn something I already really knew (that I didn't) I hung up and returned it. Instead I bought another RF controlled lamp from another manufacturer (Sunnest) that changes colors. I received this bulb today and the white light is quite bright, much better than the bulb I replaced. I can choose a static color or three different color changing modes (a feature I use a lot), alongside other features like the last two colors, timers as well as many different static color options (120, like the changing color of the Feit WiFi lightbulb to be exact). It cost $5 less and I am very happy with the Sunnest bulb (Sunnest 120 color LED bulb) which I replaced with a .PROS on a Feit WiFi bulb that changes color: very bright white with many white styling options; 120 different color settings to choose from with an app controlled gradient wheel. Ability to control from anywhere (once connected, whether connected to Wi-Fi or not): options such as power on or off, dimming (white only), scheduled power on/off and colour/white color selection - all from your phone or an authorized friend/family member's phone. Cons: Inability to connect to a 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi Smart Switch router, which requires reprogramming the router to split the bands and reconfiguring all other WiFi devices to connect to one or other tape requires; the inability to set the lightbulb to automatically change colors; Poor customer service from the manufacturer of the product. If color rendering isn't a feature you want and you only have one 2.4GHz WiFi router, either split it up already or don't mind flashing your router and all other WiFi devices and manually selecting, which band these devices should use connect and then be sure to buy. Otherwise, go for the RF remote option, or go for the more expensive option and spend over $100 (very conservative here) on a kit that requires a smart home hub, like the smart light bulb kit by Phil.
