Review on H99RTAT Shallow Ceiling Housing - Air Tite by Ronny Prather

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I installed 18 NBD units but the last batch of 4 had spring clamp issues. Better buy these!

I wanted to edit my first, somewhat blunt, review of the last 4 Halo orders I've received. Yes I returned this particular order of 4 cans but I installed the same new cans and the spring clips worked fine so the problems I had were an accident. I have installed over 18+4 of these 4 inch retro style jars in my home and love the dramatic lighting in my hallways and bathrooms and love the 5 inch jars in my kitchen. This 4 inch glass is incredible when used with a 20 value LED spot! Much better than the newer flat halo LED rims that have been on the market lately. The new offerings are blatant and appalling, it could just as easily be a bare lightbulb taped to the ceiling! Newer (non-recessed) models with halo disc LEDs produce awkward axial flare, which I don't like. These traditional halo cans, when used with PAR20 LED emitters, produce the BEST bright, soft light you will love. The jet black cone in the decorative rings highlights the dramatically understated "mysterious breeding source" you are looking for. Featuring a recessed lens / and a dark annular cone and a PAR20 LED spotlight, this lens offers what you really see from the recessed light. Theatre! You don't want or need to see where the light is coming from, and shadows on top walls are mostly a good thing. ! Yes I've had an issue with some of these upgraded cans but this is the best way to go in the long run if you want better lighting! Use 20 rated LED emitters with dark inner cones on the decorative rings, I recommend a LED color temperature of 3000K. FYI from a theatrical lighting designer more than happy with this product than new stuff.
