Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 265-811 Transmission Oil Pan for Select Models - Enhance Engine Optimization by Andrew Frison

Leaking drain plug

This is a good retrofit transmission oil pan but the drain plug is a poor quality product! Some reviews said that replacing a special Dorman seal will stop leaks, it can work the first time. The real problem is that the shoulder of the drain plug doesn't match the threads! If you used a soft material gasket it will form a hole between the pan and the drain plug, but if the gasket is not in the same position as the drain plug when you remove it, the leak will be larger than the first time. If you over tighten there is a chance the spot weld between the nut and the tub will break. You must put the original oil pan back in place. The size of the drain plug is M14x1.75. If you can replace it with another good quality plug of the same size and a new gasket, stop the leak without tightening the poor quality drain plug! Dorman was supposed to be watching closely for this problem, I just put a drain plug on the lathe to align the thread shoulder, the leaks stopped.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
