Review on GPX HM3817DTBK Music System Remote by Matt Charlton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Inexpensive CD/stereo system with adequate sound.

Bought for my mother in a nursing home. I wanted something with decent sound quality, AM/FM, lower cost, and ease of use. The device is all plastic and looks a little fragile, but of course it's built at a low price. The remote has a good range but is very small, which in turn makes it difficult to identify the buttons it controls. Maybe until you remember her. The clock is small, as is the display on the stereo dial. The stereo has a bright blue light, by the way, which would be a great night light, ha. The stereo radio provides adequate sound quality, at least for me, even with plastic speaker cabinets. I'm not a fan of high precision! When the volume is set to medium (13 out of 30) it will fill a small to medium sized room in any home. At higher levels (20 out of 25) it is very loud and introduces moderate distortion. So don't unknowingly set your alarm clock to high volume. Volume at 3-5 out of 30 is barely audible. I don't know how long the individual components will last: radio, CD player, remote control and speakers. It has a 90 day warranty but I also signed up for the 3 year protection plan and the system still cost me under $60.
