Review on Norton Japanese Style Combination Waterstone 8 Inch by Jason King

Revainrating 5 out of 5

GREAT.TOP.GREAT in Power & Hand Tools

I used a piece of antique tile with a smooth finish (8000-10,000 grit) to sharpen my razors, knives, etc. for many years. It seemed to be made of powder, it was so thin. But over the years a slight "slack" has built up on the surface, so I've decided to replace it. I wasn't expecting to find anything that matched on the market, but this 8000 grit is pretty close. Not as good, but close. This double sided stone works really great. If you let the edge go a little too far, the 4000 grit prepares the edge perfectly. When used in conjunction with the Smith 6" Triple Stone and the DIAMOND SHRPENING STONE - Sharpening Block - 2" x 6" Double Ended FINE + MEDIUM you can create a straight razor blade on any knife. I recently used Higo no Bought Kami Aogami - Honwarikomi Tokudai (Size XL), Nagaokoma, a knife imported from JAPAN that comes with a razor blade and an 8000 grit stone, I can get the blade back in just 3-4 passes over the stone I am really happy with this setting. Now I can take a chance and try to repair and level the surface of my piece of antique tile. This was a piece I found on a demolition site on the ground. You have an old house/mansion ripped it off so I picked it up It looked like glass but it was a piece of floor countertops or some sort of tile I wish I'd loaded my trunk with it A tile nseller said it looks like a piece of very good and expensive Italian tile that is used everywhere and in fireplaces. This double sided stone is almost as good as this piece of tile.
