I'm sorry I bought this kettle. I hope it falls apart soon so I can throw it away without hurting my frugal soul. It's huge and chunky, and despite all that bulkiness, there's no room in the base to hide the cord! The cable sticks out like a lazy tail and takes up too much space in the kitchen. When it starts to boil, long before the auto shutoff is triggered, it rumbles, shakes, and spews hot steam and bubbles for several minutes until you think it might overcook or, fortunately, self-destruct. All that can be said about him is that he boils water. Don't buy this. There are much better teapots out there.
