Soft and lightens color but expect to do it multiple times

This Color X-Change Phase-Out Gentle Dye Decolorizer + Intensive Hair Mask is gentle and lightens color but expect Do it several times for aged or permanent, semi-permanent color. You will receive two small packages. One is a color brightener and the other is an intensely nourishing mask. The directions say to slowly mix the contents of the dye in a nonmetallic bowl with 4 ounces of very warm water. It's a powder and it clumps, so it takes a while to mix it all up and get rid of the clumps. Mixing produces a smooth, slightly thick gel that is very similar to aloe vera gel. Then apply to freshly washed and towel-dried hair. One pack was enough to cover the hair below the shoulders. Then cover your head with a treatment cap or shower cap. You can even use a plastic bag and clip it in place. Then leave the product on overnight and shampoo in the morning. Apply the mask immediately or after applying a new color if you prefer. So I'm going to gray hair. Last year I only used semi-permanent hair color to allow the permanent color to grow out. Now that all the permanent color has been cut away I'm ready to get rid of the semi-permanent color. That's easier said than done. I have treated her 3 times already with a homemade mix of Vitamin C powder https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000701NUO/ and Head & Shoulders All-Purpose Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. I found many people recommending this online so I gave it a try. You simply mix it up and apply it to freshly washed hair and leave it on for about an hour before rinsing it out. The color tightens naturally, but not completely. Because it doesn't contain bleach it's very gentle and my hair is totally normal after using this blend but it's such a slow process. After 3 treatments the color is definitely much lighter and matches my gray roots better but I was hoping this product would speed up the process. This product also uses vitamin C to lighten the color. While I let it sit overnight, it didn't seem to pick up color any faster than my homemade mix. The color was lighter so it definitely worked, but no better than other things. It didn't harm my hair at all, although they were a little drier than before, but the usual conditioner completely restored them. It didn't burn my scalp, but leaving it on overnight did make my scalp a little sensitive. However, it's not enough that I refuse to use it again. It smells a bit while it's on the head and it's not a pleasant smell, but it's not strong and it's not particularly bad. However, it washes out completely when you shampoo this product. I've noticed online that stylists who use vitamin C to lighten the color apply heat while it's on the head so I'll try that next time. Based on the amount of lift I get each time, I think it will take 5-10 more treatments to remove most of my semi-permanent color. Perhaps this process is faster for hair that is removed with just one application of semi-permanent color? a round on most women. But the price is quite reasonable. If you have thick and very long hair, you may need two packs. At this point, it's cheaper to just buy vitamin C powder and a cheap dandruff shampoo because you'll get the same results. I have another pack of these and will be using them again while also applying heat to my head. I'll update if it improves the color lightening.
